David Sidoo, raised in New Westminster, BC, comes from humble beginnings.
Growing up, David attended New Westminster Secondary School, where he was first introduced to football—a sport that would provide him with a sense of purpose and direction. His passion for football eventually earned him a scholarship to play for the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1978, where he became a standout player for the UBC Thunderbirds.
While balancing academics and athletics, David worked two jobs during the summer to support his family. His commitment to hard work and perseverance paid off when he became the first Indo-Canadian to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL), joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders for five seasons and later the BC Lions for one season. After retiring from football in 1988, David Sidoo transitioned into a successful business career, building several companies and achieving great success in the entrepreneurial world.
Despite his professional accomplishments, David Sidoo remains deeply connected to his Vancouver roots and community. He often reflects on the support he received early in his life, a sentiment encapsulated in his favorite saying: “To whom much is given, much is expected.” His unwavering commitment to giving back is a central theme in his life.
